I still think hyper beam and pals should still retain the gen 1 mechanics, but if they were to end up being too much to handle I suggest an adjustment. 'If this move is successful, the user must recharge on the following turn and cannot select a move, unless the target or its substitute was knocked out by this move. If this attack is not successful, the user is forced to recharge.' Think of how High jump kick works, but recharge rather than crash damage.

Seeing how popular boots are since they exist, there might be some problems around hazards. That said, im not sure just banning them would make anything better. I can imagine 100's of ways to nerf entry hazards, and each of them would have to be balance tested for months and probably every one of them is bad and its not like modding the game to make it more balanced was ever an option.

See I think using tech is alright on ladder because it's anti-meta, which means it can work in tours but not necessarily on ladder because it is too niche to be usable all the time. But in the draft scene, tech shines because you're not optimizing a mon to matchup against 40 pokemon in a tier, but only 8-12. One of the funniest sets I chose to run was a choice band hustle togekiss focus punch to get rid of enemy heatran on the obvious switch in. The satisfaction of pulling off a tech (I didn't win that battle but I felt like a winner) is unparalleled.
